Meeting Mariana’s family
On Saturday and Sunday, we had the chance to meet members of Mariana’s family in Coyoacán at her grandmother’s home and in Cuernavaca (about 1.5 hours south of Mexico City) at her father’s home.
We were so warmly welcomed into their beautiful homes where they prepared a feast for us of traditional Mexican foods.

Both homes had such beautiful plantings and brightly-colored flowers.

Luckily, all her family members’ English was so much better than our Spanish! We had fun talking about politics, their academic work, as well as our respective families.

We look forward to the day when we can open up our home in Minnesota to them and extend the same gracious hospitality.
